Dan Rawls Company was recently honored for its charitable work by the National Housing Endowment in a ceremony in Orlando, Fla., on February 13, 2008.
The Piedmont S.C. based homebuilder received honorable mention in the endowment's third annual Builder Achievement Awards for Outstanding Community Service. The award honors Rawls' renovation of the two-decade old Ronald McDonald House of Greenville. The company constructed porches and other facilities, landscaped the property, and installed television and play rooms for the children. Rawls received $1,000 from the endowment for the Ronald McDonald House of Greenville.
"The housing industry has always been an integral part of my life," said Rawls. "I feel honored to be part of an industry that does so much for the community." Dan is no stranger to prestigious awards as he is a South Carolina Housing Hall of Famer and has received the annual Home Builders Association of Greenville Builder of the Year to name a few.
But there is one House that is very special to him, the House That Love Built, and for that, we are very greatful. Dan is a very active Board Member of our House, and it is because of his hard work that the families we serve have a comfortable house to stay in.
"During these challenging times, the generosity of Homebuilders like Dan continues to shine. Dan understands the communities we serve, communities of families who need our help," said Joe Julian RMHC of the Carolinas Board President. "Dan has done much more then build porches and fix the leaks, he has helped families in more ways than anyone can imagine". Awards like these honor the charity, and allows everyone to remember that in tough economic times, the Ronald McDonald House is all that more dear.
Dan, from the families we serve, our staff and fellow board members, thank you, thank you for keeping the foundation of the Ronald McDonald House strong. |
