The Powdersville Middle School Cheerleaders choose the Ronald McDonald House of Greenville
The fundraiser at the Powdersville McDonald's was a success. The Powdersville Middle School Cheerleaders and their coaches did a great job. The managers and crew had fun while helping with the donations for the Ronald McDonald House. The reason for this event was for the cheerleaders to give to their community. It was a wonderful idea, and we will do this again. Melissa Harrison Area Supervisor Collins Enterprises, dba McDonald's Easley, Pickens, and Powdersville

Every year, the cheerleaders at Powdersville Middle School work on a community service project. The parents and coaching staff feel that this is an important part of the girl’s responsibilities as ambassadors, not only to other schools in the area, but to the community itself.  This year, they have chosen the Ronald McDonald House.  The cheerleaders are extremely excited about this years’ selection.  Several of the girls’ have families that have used the services in the past, so it was something they could very easily relate to.  The cheerleaders became so enthused with the project, that it led to the first annual fundraising event, held on August 25, 2007 at the McDonald’s restaurant located on Hwy 153 in Powdersville.  The 100 plus degree heat did not stop them.  The cheerleaders performed cheers, dances, and stunts for the customers.  The girls handed out balloons, and did face painting.  Hot 93.1 radio station broadcast from the parking lot to show support for the girls and to bring attention to the cause.  Ronald McDonald himself was able to attend, posing for pictures and passing out autographs.  Several local businesses made donations, including BMW, which donated the use of a Roadster for a weekend to the single highest donation.   We are pleased to announce the winner of the use of the Roadster is Julie Holcomb.  Congratulations!

The girls collected approximately $1,500.00 in cash and other donations, but more help is needed, donations are still being accepted – simply contact Powdersville Middle School. More updates to follow throughout the school year!
