Thanks George! George Rogers and his Nationwide Pro playing partner Jimmy Walker placed second in the Pro-Am/ Pro-Celebrity competition and picked the Ronald McDonald House of Greenville as their Charity of Choice! George and Jimmy, thank you for so much for being a part of our team!
George Rogers: As
the 1980 Heisman trophy-winning running back from the University of
South Carolina, George Rogers rolled up 21 consecutive 100-yard games,
including every game his senior year, when he led the nation in rushing
with 1,781 yards and tied for third in TDs with 14. New Orleans Saints
coach Bum Phillips, who made Rogers the top NFL '81 draft choice, noted
the running back's double edge - Rogers could dodge a defender or run
over him. Rogers was a member of the 1987 Washington Redskins Super
Bowl Championship team. He retired in 1988. Rogers and professional
partner Kyle Thompson, also an alumnus of South Carolina, won the 2002
Pro-Celebrity portion of the BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs. This
will be Rogers' seventh appearance, one of only three celebrities
(Jennifer Mills and Ben Wright) that have competed in every tournament.

BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs Golf Tournament
Under
almost perfect weather conditions (clear and sunny with temperatures in
the upper 70s), 42,000 fans – the second most in tournament history –
witnessed Nick Flanagan win the seventh-annual BMW Charity Pro-Am at
The Cliffs golf tournament. The win was the second of his career.
Flanagan, who is from New South Wales, Australia, finished the
tournament at –15 under par beating Nicholas Thompson by one stroke.
The
win earned Flanagan $117,000 and a brand new BMW X5 Sports Activity
Vehicle, the first time in the history of the Nationwide Tour that a
vehicle has been given to a tournament champion. It also marks the
largest gift ever given on the Nationwide Tour. With his victory
Flanagan is well on his way to competing on the PGA TOUR next year. The
top 25 money leaders on the Nationwide Tour automatically earn playing
status on the PGA TOUR in 2008.
The
BMW Charity Pro-Am at The Cliffs is the only tournament on the
Nationwide Tour where amateurs and celebrities are grouped with
Nationwide Tour professionals in a three-day better-ball competition.
Amateurs, celebrities and pros rotate between three separate courses on
Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the 14 lowest scoring
pro-amateur/pro-celebrity teams advancing to play Sunday’s final round.
